Below are some excerpts from a pamphlet published by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (August 2003).
“Dealing With RADON in Real Estate Transactions”
“Radon reduction technology has improved so much over the last few years that reducing radon is easy and affordable”
“Surveys conducted by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare indicate that approximately 36% of Idaho homes have radon concentrations in excess of the EPA guideline of 4.0 pCi/L.”
“Elevated levels of radon have been found in almost every county in Idaho.”
“Radon can vary from house to house. The only way to know how much radon you have is to test it.”
“Test the home. If the radon is higher than you want, take comfort that it can be fixed; even after you have taken possession.”
“If you like a home, buy, it – radon can be reduced”
I hope you find the information about radon in Idaho and Bonneville County helpful. As you can see from the table, at least 1/3 of the homes in our area are in excess of the EPA guideline of 4.0pCi/L.
